Zuming Feng is the Stephen G. Kurtz Teaching Chair of the Mathematics Department at Phillips Exeter Academy.

 

Over the past decade, Zuming has been a leading member of the team that writes the Academy’s mathematics teaching materials. He serves as advisor to the Math Club and the PEA Math Team. Thirteen student members of the team have been USA Mathematics Olympiad participants; among them, they have earned 12 gold and 2 silver medals in the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO). 

At present, he works closely with the USA Mathematical Olympiad Summer Program (MOSP), where he has served as coach to the USA IMO team since 1997, the deputy leader of the USA IMO delegation and associate director of Math Olympiad Summer Program (MOSP) from 2000 to 2002, and the leader of the USA IMO delegation and the director of MOSP from 2003 to 2013. His teaching and coaching have twice been recognized by the MAA: in 1996 and in 2002, he was named the Edyth May Sliffe Award Recipient for Distinguished High School Mathematics Teaching. 

Zuming is the co-founder and the academic director of IDEA Math, a highly successful problem-solving oriented math education program. He is currently assisting with the selection and training of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s IMO team and directing the Yale university undergraduate math club and its Putnam competition seminars.
